Urban Outfitters Bike Shop

Design your very own bike with Urban Outfitters! (Unfortunately only in America).

"We assemble custom bicycles based on shared design. We offer component and color selection curated for quality, value and aesthetics. Pick, choose, swap and decide and we'll build it, box it, and ship it out. Built by us and you."

Some very cool use of tiling and an old sink in Urban Outfitters Glasgow recently. Just in a small section which was enough. It creates a point of interest for the clothing to displayed alongside. Pretty cool I thought.

Saw these vintage Justin worker boots. Perfect fit, pretty comfortable too. I love how clumpy , masculine and battered they look and they looked perfect with a new pretty feminine dress I was wearing and tights.
£75, eek I'm a bit tight on money and I bought a little blue dress from Urban Outfitters last week so I didn't want to push the bank too far. (Went into American Apparel next door though and they had the same worker boots in white in their vintage section for £35!)

Denim galore!

I have been a huge fan of Balmain's last couple of collections. Look at their ripped stone washed jeans (which cost over £1000) and new take on a military  and denim jacket. I want them!

Topshop and Miss Selfridge (see previous post) seem to have been influenced hugely by Balmain's AW '08 collection and now their SS '09 collection. I have my light wash, ripped skinnies from last year so I'll be digging them out but have a look at what Urban Outfitters have just came up with:

I'll be in Glasgow on Saturday so I think I'll go check these out. I wonder if American Apparel will pick up on these...

I share clothes with Behati! Kind of...

Ooh I spotted a picture of model Behati Prinsloo wearing a tartan lumberjack style hoodie after a fashion show. I also own this. I got it in Urban Outfitters a few years back. Here I am wearing it at an art exhibition opening at uni.

Courtney Love photoshoot

I get emails from Elle UK and I saw that Courtney Love is on their January cover and looks pretty damn good. She still looks like her usual rock star self as she is wearing this season's trends but this time it looks a bit more polished than the usual smeared red lipstick look. I used to have really mixed feelings towards her as I was a huge Nirvana fan growing up but I'm so glad to see her looking so good. Speaking of which, I got a Nirvana t-shirt in Urban Outfitters recently as it was reduced from £32 to £15. I used to have a vest-top like this when I was younger which I bought off another girl in school who was a whole lot bustier than me at the time. The Nirvana logo was therefore a bit stretched horizontally but I loved it anyway.

New Vivienne Westwood store.

Last week I had my graduation ceremony with the rest of my class. I was ecstatic that Dame Vivienne Westwood was also graduating at this same ceremony, having been given an Honorary Degree from my university. (Not everyone can say they graduated with Vivienne Westwood).
(Here she is at her Manifesto: an active resistance to propaganda. My flatmate Kirsty is in the background in a potato sack costume as she read from Vivienne's script. Lucky girl.)

At the same time, I discovered that she is soon to open a new store in Glasgow: her first in Scotland. It is due to open in Princes Square (situated on Buchanan Street) which already boasts such stores as Calvin Klein, boutiques like Fifi and Ally and Penhaligons as well as many slick bars and restaurants.
Just up the road from Princes Square, Urban Outfitters already sells a selection of her Anglomania collection, but I can't wait to see this new store open. Her collections are always so inspiring and unapologetic for doing their own thing: never abiding to the restrictions of seasonal trends.
